The Banyamulenge people stand at a critical crossroads, facing a paradoxical situation that demands unity and introspection to safeguard their identity and future. Since 2017, narratives of genocide have fueled mistrust and division, despite efforts by the Congolese government to address internal complicity. Propagandists continue to deepen the divide, but as a community, we must choose a path of resilience, unity, and reconciliation. The promotion of leaders like Lieutenant General Masunzu Pacifique and Brigadier General Gasita offers an opportunity to prevent further atrocities if we embrace a constructive perspective.
